Wound care is a specialty unto itself, usually involving patients with multiple health problems like diabetes. Management of difficult lower extremity wounds require a team approach including primary care doctors, infectious disease specialists, vascular specialists, and podiatric physicians. Our group has extensive training in the care of wounds.
A very thorough examination is critical to evaluate the patient’s circulation and for any underlying problem such as bone infection. If you have recent wounds or chronic ulcers that have failed other treatments, we recommend an evaluation by the Foot & Ankle Institute.
We offer the most current technologies for wound healing from autologous platelet concentrate (utilizing your own cells to promote wound closure) to synthetic grafts. Additionally, we are affiliated with Bakersfield Memorial Hospital Center for Wound Care. Here we can provide state-of-the-art care for those patients needing extensive wound care treatment.
